Sustainable Gift Giving

December 6, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Free

NEW DATE! This program will now be offered on Tuesday, 12/6 @ 7:00pm – see you then!

Join CREA and GoGo Refill’s owner Laura Marston on Tuesday, November 29th at 7:00pm for a fun and informational session on how to ditch plastics in your everyday life and in gift giving this holiday season! Be inspired to create low to zero-waste gifts that support a sustainable future AND bring joy!

Why?

Because plastic production accounts for 8% of global petroleum use, and it’s expected to reach 20% by 2050.

BIPOC communities disproportionately face the effects of toxic pollution from the production of plastics.

8.1 Million tons of plastic ends up in the ocean every year.

Plastic doesn’t biodegrade, it breaks down into harmful microplastics.

Laura Marston is the owner of GoGo Refill in South Portland, ME. She says “it all started with a New Year’s resolution to ditch single-use plastic water bottles. After that, it was impossible for me to close my eyes to the problems surrounding plastic production, toxicity and pollution. I started GoGo Refill because I needed more package-free options here in my town. But what I didn’t expect was how much joy I would get from being at GoGo every day. I’m energized by the conversations we have with our community of amazing refillers, we’re always learning from each other and sharing tips and trials of the low-waste lifestyle.”

GoGo is on a mission to help people find the joy in low-waste living. Whether you’re taking your first steps or you’re a seasoned zero-waster, they stock beautifully durable, delightfully effective products and bulk home essentials consciously curated to lessen the need for harmful single use plastics.
