Nature Journaling Workshop for Teens
August 13, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This workshop has been cancelled. If you’re interested, check to see if there’s space in the 9/10/22 nature journaling workshop or email to be put on the waitlist for that.
Come learn how to Nature Journal with Lindsay Strout, a high school biology teacher who has a passion for journaling. This workshop is specifically for 11 – 18 year-olds. This is a great way for teens who enjoy and appreciate the natural world to experience and observe it in a whole new way. (We have another nature journaling workshop coming in September for adults, also led by Lindsay.) All materials will be provided.
Participants will observe and record their findings in various formats. You do not need to know how to draw! We will use sketches, numbers and words to capture what we observe using all five of our senses. Lindsay will go over the basics of what nature journaling is, mention a few top names whom she’s learned from, share some books and resources, then the group will head outside to start journaling together around the Cathance River Nature Preserve!
A little bit about Lindsay – she was born and raised here in Maine, but now sees Maine so differently. She has found that slowing down and capturing her observations in journals allows her to learn so much more about the beautiful plants and animals around us! She currently teaches high school biology and wildlife biology, but enjoys spending her spare time outside.
