Nature Journaling Workshop

September 11 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come learn how to Nature Journal with Lindsay Strout, a high school biology teacher who has a passion for journaling.  This is a great way for people who enjoy and appreciate the natural world to experience and observe it in a whole new way. (We have a nature journaling workshop in August for teens, also led by Lindsay.) All materials will be provided.

Participants will observe and record their findings in various formats.  You do not need to know how to draw! We will use sketches, numbers and words to capture what we observe using all five of our senses.  Lindsay will go over the basics of what nature journaling is, mention a few top names whom she’s learned from, share some books and resources, then the group will head outside to start journaling together around the Cathance River Nature Preserve!

A little bit about Lindsay – she was born and raised here in Maine, but now sees Maine so differently. She has found that slowing down and capturing her observations in journals allows her to learn so much more about the beautiful plants and animals around us! She currently teaches high school biology and wildlife biology, but enjoys spending her spare time outside.
