Cathance River Snowshoe/Hike – Great Maine Outdoor Weekend

February 11, 2019

NEW DATE!

Celebrate the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend by joining us for a fun morning winter outing in Topsham at the Cathance River Preserve. We will lead the group on a snowshoe or hike (based on conditions) on the trails at the Preserve.

The trails will lead us down to the river where the ice formations can be magical in the winter. We will follow along the river and do as many trail sections as the group is up to. We will then loop back to the parking area. Watch for animal tracks along the way and enjoy this beautiful woods walk. Trails are narrow with some short steeper sections. Snowshoes required if enough snow.

Microspikes or similar traction may be required if icy. Plan on about 2-3 hours out. Please let us know if you need to borrow snowshoes.

You’ll have a chance to learn a bit about the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust and the history of this wonderful Preserve. It’s also home to the Cathance River Education Alliance, CREA. A staff member of CREA will join us for the outing and open up the Center for us to visit. So join us in this wonderful winter wonderland.
