Animals in Winter StoryWalk®, Trail Games & Wild Bird Garland Craft!
March 17, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
FreeThis event has been rescheduled to Thursday March 17th at 9:30am. Join CREA’s Camp Director Jenny Mueller for a morning of exploring our winter StoryWalk and the Preserve’s forest wonderland with your little(s)!
We’ll gather at 9:30am at the Ecology Center, then head out on the Barnes Leap Trail to experience CREA’s winter StoryWalk® as a group. We’ll read the book “Animals in Winter” by authors Henrietta Bancroft & Richard G. Van Gelder as we walk the trail together. Adults and older siblings are welcome to help out with the reading!
After the StoryWalk®, the group will explore the banks of the River Trail while playing fun trail games! We’ll return to the picnic tables outside the Ecology Center after the hike for an opportunity to create your own “snack garland” to share with animals wintering around your home. This event will be entirely outdoors.
The road to the CREA Ecology Center and the Barnes Leap Trail are loose gravel and will most likely be icy, muddy or snow-covered, and slick – sturdy boots and warm gear are recommended for this adventure.
Families are welcome to bring their own snacks, and everyone is encouraged to bring a full reusable water bottle.
The CREA Ecology Center is an off-grid facility. We do provide drinking water to refill bottles and a pit toilet is available. If indoors, we ask that masks be worn.
